Will NuShares be entering the top 10 soon?
[/quote]
I hope we have data feed functionality before then. I can imagine lots of people trying to buy NuShares and not realizing the responsibility that comes with it. Network paralysis is a concern as others have talked about. If they need to manually setup their votes or setup a data feed before they can use the wallet, then that should help matters I think. I’m sure the team has thought about the best way to go about this.
I think Jordan said beta will be available within a few days.
Either way, I just this Reddit post.
Maybe something similar should be stickied or posted here.
Your link isn’t working for me, but I assume you mean this thread…
Yes, I think that should be a sticky here as well and in the NuShares section of the website, maybe even in the FAQ. It’s very important that people know this.
That’s the link. I fixed mine, thanks. Here is Jordan’s comment about the data feeds by the way.
Upon rereading it, the data feeds probably won’t be public, my mistake.
I’m very new to the nu community, just joined, recently got some NSR… i’m keeping em locked til I know what I’m doing!
NuShares just passed Peercoin.
Nu still needs time to mature the sudden price rise of NuShares may bring about unintended consequences.
Jordan Lee thankfully had the foresight of seeing the immediate need for data feeds. The excessive delays of purchasing undistributed NuShares are frustrating, but now I understand the importance of the matter at hand.
It is of paramount importance to make newcomers in the Nu ecosystem aware of their responsibility when minting and to prevent them from unintentionally casting “NO votes”.
If the NSR volume (bter alone crossed 200 BTC daily volume!) is not only buying and selling back and forth, there might be some new shareholders in the Nu system - without feeds the danger of paralyzing the network is getting bigger and bigger.
I don’t want to sound like painting things too black, but I think the threat is real.

NuShares fights its way up - volume wise and price wise (you might need to click the links; discourse seems to crop the images from imgur.com).

coinmarketcap NSR charts:
I’ve just started on the forums, and yes, it is a lot for noobs to absorb. also, I don’t have a lot of free time, so a feed on my phone would be ideal.
A big whale has dumped large here:
huge sell and then rebuy.
NuShares (NSR)$ 0.008307 (-17.70 %)
0.00003612 BTC (-24.01 %)
Any good reason for such sell trend?
Speculators taking profits or maybe someone making a quick buck from shares they bought from JL.
Also the upward trend of Bitcoin doesn’t help I suppose.
What could be the main reason for the recent dump?
Early investors taking profits seems to be the most probable reason.
The recent dump was dealing with some hundreds of thousands of NSR.
It only affected the price that much, because the NSR market is still thin.
If we see dozens of millions of NSR being dumped I start to worry for Nu.
The recent dump was just a chance for people to get aboard the Nu train before the prices are much higher
As long as the NSR stay at exchanges (and given they don’t mint with them) Nu doesn’t need to worry about “accidental NO votes”.
…the drawbacks of leaving NSR at exchanges have beed discussed in-depth and I don’t want to digress by putting the focus on that.
Early adopters can sell at roughly 3 times the price they paid for their NSR.
It is tempting to sell them at current price levels (and equals an annual interest of approximately 800%), but I think that is just the beginning.
The trading volume of NBT is still low. The number of transactions is still low. The number of corporations supporting/using NBT directly or indirectly is low.
The ground is being paved to change that.
There’s so much potential and all is on track! The peg is stable ever since NBT were released. The only thing that needs improvement is the LPC involvement.
…if only the motion to adopt an open source license would get more votes. This would be such a boost for adoption and use of NBT!
Just try to imagine what happens to the NSR price once NBT starts being used for what it has been made for
