IMF already has Special Drawing Rights which is a basket of reserve currencies, where USD takes up the largest share, and could be considered a “currency” of IMF.

The closest recent thing I could find to this “news” is that CNY might be included in SDR basket, the implications being that SDR would stay. The link is also the only source so it’s fake.

Sorry, but that article was pretty weak. What they are (probably) referring to is that the Chinese Yuan will be included in the IMF’s Special Drawing Rights (SDR) and that the RMB will be freely convertible in the near future.
