Https://blockexplorer.nu/ is down

shouldn’t we fund the improvement of the block explorer?

What kind of improvement do you have in mind?
Aiming at an increased raliability?

First need to understand why it is crashing so often. Is it server capacity related, Nu daemon related, blockexplorer code related? When we know we can target the problem. Hope @ben or @JetJet13 can elaborate on that.

Exactly.

We just need some mirror servers.
Is it open sourced? Can anyone (without special knowledge) set it up in another server?

It is open sourced.

I did not manage to get it running… but I have 0 experience with nodejs and mongodb. That seems to be a problem.

For standard stuff https://explorer.coinpayments.net/transaction.php?chain=17 is sufficient.
It only tracks transactions and no motions or grants, but runs quite stable (I use it rarely, but have never recognized an outage).
https://svr1.nubitsexplorer.nu/chain/Nubits is available as well, but isn’t able to decode scripthashes to addresses (necessary for multisignature).

To show what I mean - this is the same tx ID:
https://svr1.nubitsexplorer.nu/ (can’t decode BqyRzFtWXDmjxrYpyJD42MLE5xc8FrB4js)
https://explorer.coinpayments.net/ (can decode BqyRzFtWXDmjxrYpyJD42MLE5xc8FrB4js)

Slightly off-topic: if this is valuable functionality I can ask Matthew to add this when we have further updates for NuDroid? My suggestion is to invest in the stability our main explorer as the first priority. Still hope someone can elaborate what Shareholders can do to improve stability.

Aaaaaand… down again:

@Ben, @JetJet13, can you please kick the blockexplorer?

Appears to work again. Thanks.

Blockexplorer down again. Can you please have a look? @JetJet13

@JetJet13

Works for me again. Thanks for fixing.

needs another kick @JetJet13

Hey guys,
I just wanted to let you guys know the current reasons as to why the explorer is either

  1. falling behind
  2. not responding.

  1. The explorer is falling behind because after some time of having the nu client running, it becomes unresponsive and so the parser script doesn’t run and the explorer falls behind. The current solution is to restart the nu client and wait for it to catch up so I can insert the missing blocks.

  2. The explorer becomes unresponsive (as in you can’t load the site) because there is some function/api that runs and some parameter causes it to not return a value making the server wait ‘forever’ for a response and causes all other requests to hang. The current solution is to simply restart the node server.

“Error 524: host error”

Seems down again. A gentle reboot would be appreciated.

I think we should really fund the improvement of the block explorer.
