Lightning Network for NuBits

There has been discussion about implementation of Lighting Network for Bitcoin and Peercoin (please see here: https://www.reddit.com/r/peercoin/comments/3dqodc/lightning_network_for_peercoin/).

Is this something that NuBits could leverage, or would it require major changes to the protocol first? Just want to start a thread on this topic, as I believe it could become quite relevant very soon.

I’m on the fence with this one. I think blockchain pruning as will be implemented in Bitcoin (0.12?) soon is more promising in the short term. In the long term we would need to increase the transaction speed and capacity especially when micropayments become more popular, something like the Lightning network would become useful to look at.

If Lightning network involves 0-confirmation, then there must be some kind of escrowing or insurance involved, I feel.
